The Gynecoid pelvis is transversely rounded or blunt and is the most favorable for successful labor and birth.
The Anthropoid pelvis is oval shape. It’s an adequate outlet with a narrow pubic arch.
The Android pelvis is heart-shaped or angulated, and resembles a male pelvis. It is not ideal for labor and birth as it’s narrow pelvis planes can cause slow descent and mid-pelvic arrest.
The Platypelloid pelvis is flat with an oval inlet. It has wide transverse diameter, but short antero-posterior diameter which makes labor and birth difficult.
